Packaging is the only design a customer picks up. It gets judged in about a second, at arm’s length, next to eleven competitors, under bad light — and none of that happens on a screen.
So the work is resolved on press. Artwork is built to a real dieline, colours are specified for the stock they are printing on, and the design is checked at the size it will actually be seen, not at 200% on a monitor.

- How much does packaging design cost?
- From $700 for labels, boxes or menus, quoted at a fixed price before it starts. A single label is at the lower end; a range of six with different compliance text is more.
- Do you do the printing?
- No, and that is deliberate — you are free to use whichever printer quotes best. I supply artwork any of them can run, and I will talk to them directly.
- What do you need from me?
- The dieline or the packaging spec, your ingredients and compliance text, and any photography. If you do not have a dieline your printer will supply one.
- Can you match my existing brand?
- Yes. If there is no brand yet, that is a brand image or a logo job first — see the prices.
- Do you design menus as well as labels?
- Yes — labels, boxes and menus are the same job done at different sizes, and all three are quoted from the same starting figure. A menu is print artwork like any other: set to a real trim size, with the type tested at the distance it will actually be read from.
- Who is responsible for the compliance text?
- You supply it — ingredients, allergens, weights, the statements your product is legally required to carry. I lay it out properly rather than leaving it for the printer to squeeze in, and I will tell you if something looks like it is missing, but the wording and its accuracy stay with you and your supplier.
- What files do I end up with?
- Print-ready artwork built to your printer’s dieline with bleed and marks, plus the working files. They are yours, and any printer can open them — you are never tied to one supplier because of the way the artwork was saved.
