High Street Automotive

A workshop that says what it costs before you ask.

European and classic work, so the site had to look like it belonged to people who take that seriously — heavy display type, a black field, and one orange that only ever marks the thing to press.

The phone number and the booking button are both on the first screen, because on a garage site that is the entire job.

What it does

  1. Display type doing the qualifying

European, performance and classic work is a narrower trade than general servicing, so the name is set at full width in heavy display type on black and the line beneath says exactly which vehicles the workshop takes. The wrong customer leaves; the right one recognises themselves.

  2. Booking and the phone number, always in reach

One orange, used only ever to mark the thing to press. Book the workshop and the number both sit in the header and stay there, so the action never scrolls away.

  3. The Record — jobs that came back through the workshop

Twelve real-shaped jobs, filterable by the kind of work, each written the way a mechanic would tell it: what came in, what was found, what was done. It replaces a testimonial wall with something a car owner can actually judge.

  4. Dark, without being hard to read

A black field with one accent is easy to get wrong. Every pairing on the page was checked for contrast, and the body copy sits well clear of the threshold rather than at it.
